Sophrology is founded on whole person principles. This means using all of your human structure to engage daily living. One term used to prompt this experience is Senso Perceptive Contemplation. This is the effort to go beyond your thoughts and experience the essence of physical sensation in the body.
Aromatouch is a therapy which compliments meditation as it enhances senso perceptive contemplation. It is a mind-body therapy which aims to manage symptoms for pain, anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, indigestion, and more.
Aromatherapy is gentle touch with pure essential oils which are applied along energy meridians and visceral contact points of the back and feet. Properties of the CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils are absorbed into the body to balance the autonomic nervous system.
The aim of Aromatouch Therapy is for the technique to promote a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing. Some benefits of aromatherapy include:
Improved Sleep | Stress Management | Weight Management | Relief of Joint Pain
Aide in digestion | Relief of headache and migraine pain | Reduce signs of depression
AROMATOUCH can balance the mind-body so that when you encounter stress you can mindfully respond rather than instinctively react.
AROMA
-
Your sense of smell is directly linked to your sense of wellbeing.
-
There’s a direct connection between your nose and your brain’s recall centre. It’s called the limbic system.
-
The limbic system is involved in behaviour and emotional response. This is why regular exposure to pure essential oils provides unique and significant support.
TOUCH
-
Touch is central to human experience and plays a critical role in development of healthy relationships.
-
Comforting touch is associated with higher levels of oxytocin and has the ability to lower blood pressure, cortisol levels, and heart rate.
-
Your skin contains thousands of special nerve cells called touch receptors which recognise temperature, pressure, and movement.
-
Touch receptors communicate multiple emotions through the nervous and limbic systems.
How does the body process aroma?
Your sense of smell, known as the olfactory system, is one of the most powerful connections to your surroundings. One reason for this is that the olfactory nerves are directly connected to your limbic system where emotions and memories are stored.
There are olfactory receptors all over your body. They’ve been found in the gastrointestinal tract, muscles, heart, pancreas, liver, and lungs.
One way to experience the benefits of pure essential oils is aromatically. When you breathe in the aroma of essential oils some of the properties are absorbed into the olfactory system and passed on to the bloodstream.
Essential oils are volatile, meaning they can change quickly from liquid to gas. This is what makes them so effective when inhaled.
